Time for a Little Spring Cleaning

Welcome to the new, cleaner and (hopefully!) easier-to-navigate version of Go Explore Nature! Let me show you around …

First, meet the family on a recent trip to Hawaii:

That’s me, the hubby, the big explorer (5 ½ years old) and the little explorer (2 years old and usually much less cranky-looking!).

This blog is where I share our nature adventures with the world. My hope is that you’ll be inspired to get your family outside, too.

And now for the tour … over on the right-hand side, you’ll notice that things are a lot easier to read. I’ve organized posts in a few different ways: reader favorites, types of adventures, and places we’ve explored in Southern California.

I usually post three times a week about all things kids and nature related. More specifically, I regularly post:

• Reviews of nature adventures we take to places like parks, arboretums, beaches, zoos and more. We also love to travel, so you can expect to see posts about places we visit outside of the Los Angeles area, too.
• Stories, inspiration and lessons learned from nature. A couple of popular posts are ways to find nature in the city and what we learned raising caterpillars.
• “Fun Friday” activities that feature simple ways to connect kids with nature right in your own backyard. Reader favorites include a winter nature scavenger hunt and taking a color walk.

In the weeks ahead, I also hope to start including reviews of books, websites, DVDs and other items that I find useful in helping my kids enjoy the great outdoors.
