I’ve wanted to spotlight some of my favorite bloggers and websites since I first started here, but I never seemed to find the time.
I’m hoping to do better in the future.
Toward that goal, today I’m proud to announce that I’ve volunteered to be an official Nature Rocks Ambassador – and I’ve got the nifty badge to prove it!
What’s a Nature Rocks Ambassador?
My job as an ambassador is to help spread the word about getting families outside in nature. I realize I try to do that every day around here, but now I’m teaming up with Nature Rocks, a national campaign to get children and families reconnected with nature.
Nature Rocks offers up a bunch of cool features on their site. For instance, you can:
- Find nature activities and events. I love that you can search by time limit, location and the age of your kids.
- Find nature near you by choosing the type of destination, activities and services.
- Create your own Nature Rocks Flock (aka a family nature club) with the Flocks Guide, which has just about everything you need to get started!
- Download FREE seasonal activity guides that provide a ton of ideas for outdoor family fun. Currently available is the 2010 Winter Activity Guide.
I’m also excited to be working with some amazing fellow Nature Rocks Ambassadors, including:
- Angela of The Walking Stick, who contributed a great post here about her Favorite Places to Explore Nature in a Suburb of Denver. She chronicles her family’s outdoor adventures in the hopes of encouraging others to do the same.
- Michele of Fun Orange County Parks. If you live in Orange County, you must check out her gynormous collection of park reviews. She also provides inspiring ideas for play, is a kid at heart and loves spending time outdoors with her kids.
- Nicole of Arrows Sent Forth, who I was thrilled to have share with us her Favorite Places to Explore Nature in Indiana. Her blog is all about her adventures at home and away with her hubby and 18-month old son.
- Stacy of Kids Stuff World. I recently started reading Stacy’s blog when I discovered she was a fellow Ambassador. In addition to loving the outdoors, she’s a stay-at-home mom to three small kids. ’Nuff said.
Want more info? There are plenty of ways to connect with Nature Rocks: You can find them on Facebook and Twitter.
And if you’d like to join my Family Nature Club, give me a holler. Leave a comment or send me an email and we’ll go explore nature together!

Congratulations on becoming a Nature Rocks ambassador! I hadn't come across that website before, and now I'm eager to check it out (along with the other blogs/sites you linked to!)<br />Thank you for all you do — I know I've been so inspired to do new things with my son that I hadn't thought of before, and I can't be the only mom who's benefited from your blog!
