I hope this blog is a place for you to gather information, get inspired, learn something new and maybe even head outside when you might not have before. I know that many of you have helped me do all of that and more.
This holiday season, I’d like to share my three wishes for you. Consider it my little thank you for being here.
1. Share a magical moment with a loved one.
The ever-inspirational Marghanita wrote a beautiful post recently about sharing a “magical moment” with a loved one this holiday season. And I agree that connecting with a child and the world around you is the best gift anyone could receive.
So here’s to catching the perfect rainbow or a breathtaking sunset, seeing a spider spin its web or getting up-close and personal with a wild creature with someone you love by your side.
2. Try something new.
One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned since starting this blog is to try new things – as often as possible. Don’t let fear of the unknown keep you from doing something you’ve long had on your bucket list.
Play in the rain (don’t wait ’til it stops), see your first snow, plant a garden, visit a new-to-you national park or plan a trip to a place you’ve always wanted to visit.
3. Let go and be a kid again.
When it comes to getting outdoors with your kids, you don’t have to have all the answers or even a formal plan. (Trust me, even if you did, the kids would have ideas of their own!) Leave worries about dirt, bumps and bruises behind and enjoy the experience of being in nature without inhibition. Explore, discover and share it with children.
Here’s to playing in the mud, sliding down the slide head first, burying yourself in the sand, catching snowflakes on your tongue and dancing in the rain.
Happy exploring!
