Get Outside Giveaway for Gardening Fun

by Debi Huang

Each week this month – which is Let’s G.O. (Get Outside) Month – I’m hosting a “Get Outside” giveaway featuring one of our favorite things.

This week’s item: Vegetable Garden Seeds

Why We Love It
This week, we planted a vegetable garden for the second year in a row. That’s saying a lot, since last year we had very little success.

Even though our first vegetables didn’t produce as much as we’d have liked, spending time caring for the space was anything but a waste. The explorers and I both enjoyed every aspect – from planting and watering to daily checks on growth and eventually enjoying the results.

Whether you’re brand new to gardening or a seasoned “expert,” you can always use more seeds! This collection comes with 11 packets – something for everyone:

  1. Super-Sweet 100 tomatoes
  2. Better Boy tomatoes
  3. Blue Lake beans
  4. Waltham broccoli
  5. Salad Bowl lettuce
  6. Danvers carrots
  7. Early Scarlet radishes
  8. Straight 8 cucumbers
  9. White Lisbon onions
  10. California Wonder green peppers
  11. Black Beauty zucchini

The Nitty-Gritty

  • This giveaway will run through midnight PST on Saturday, April 23, 2011.
  • Sorry, but this giveaway is open to U.S. residents only.
  • The winner will be chosen using the nifty random number generator at random.org.
  • Winner will have 24 hours to reply to my notification; if I don’t hear back after that, I’ll pick another winner.

Good luck!

Note: The item I’ve chosen for this giveaway was not donated or given to me in exchange for this review. I’ve selected it because we love planting vegetables and want you to try it, too! You can read my disclosure policy for more information.

It's always nice to share.

We planted an herb garden last year with our kids & they loved not only watching them grow but learning how to cook with them and seeing how they tasted too! Thanks for the chance to win.

bamagv at aol dot com

grettajohns.blogspot.com

Twitter: @TheJohnsFamily

We play in the garden daily because we are addicted to dirt, water and sun…just like our plants. It helps that we created http://www.kardenscorner.com so it's now our job to play outside daily too!

We started planting a vegetable garden last year. This year We let my 5 year old son help plant the seeds and water the plants. He was very excited to get his own gardening tools too. We are now letting our 3 year old help as well. They both get excited to see the vegetables grow and it's a good way to get them to try new veggie's as well.
nfonseca(at)mac.com

We aren't planting a garden this year–since I KNOW our house will sell any day now, but what a great giveaway!

You have inspired me. Growing up in an apartment in NYC I have never planted a vegetable. Would love to share the experience with my daughter.
adbw17@yahoo.com

My 2 year old thought it was the greatest thing harvesting our own green beans last year! Can't wait to get it started again this year!

alklong at hotmail dot com

My daughter is very excited about planting her very own sunflowers this year. Oh, and the tomatoes – we usually plant a few cherry tomato plants which she has free reign over. Very few of the ripe tomatoes ever make it in our house (or even into the mouth of the grownups, it seems).
kwatrous at gmail dot com

Never attempted a garden since I can't seem to keep any kind of plant/flower alive, but have always wanted to! Katie would love it! :)
sarachrobot@hotmail.com
