| The big explorer took this picture of our lemon tree while sitting in the tree right next to it. |
Welcome to a new feature that’s just in time to help support your efforts to celebrate Let’s G.O. (Get Outside) Month. I’m calling it “Give a Kid a Camera” and I’d love for you to join the fun.
The idea is simple: Share a photo of nature or the outdoor world taken by a child in your life. Each week, I’ll even offer up an idea of what to look for to get you inspired to head outside.
Don’t worry if your little explorer isn’t a professional photog or sometimes needs your help to snap a shot. The point is to get outside exploring – in this case, with camera in hand! (You can get a few simple nature photography tips for kids here if you’re interested.)
Along with your photo, you can include a sentence or two about the photographer, location, subject or whatever inspired the moment. Or not. Keep it simple or tell a story. It’s totally up to you.
How to join the fun:
- Post a photo of nature taken by a child on your blog, Facebook page or flickr. (Please only share photos that you have permission to share.)
- Link back here in your post so your readers can check out other photos and join the fun, too.
- Add the link to your photo and a descriptive title to the list below.
- This link-up will stay open through Monday, April 11, 2011, so feel free to join up any time this week.
That’s it! I look forward to seeing what fun all of your nature explorers are up to!
Next week’s inspiration: Signs of spring in your own backyard, local park or other favorite place in nature

Thank you Debi! I'll just post to your FB page each time if that's okay! 🙂
@Sara: Great – I just posted it here, too. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Debi! I'm not so tech savvy. I think I posted it to the Go Explore Nature Facebook page. Is this okay?? Can I do this for the remainder of the weeks as well? Thanks!
@Sara: I think the problem is that the link you gave is to a page not accessible (at least not to me – maybe it's private?). I'm not able to post either. Sorry! 🙁

@Juliet: You are wonderful for allowing kids to take pictures – they love acting like an adult and their photos offer a unique perspective on the outdoor world.<br /><br />@Mel: I added you to the list!
I can't seem to make the Linky work 🙁 Here's mine http://www.facebook.com/album.php?id=323811903584&aid=156023#!/photo.php?fbid=10150164081348585&set=a.361155283584.156023.323811903584&theater
What a lovely idea. I always hand my iPhone over to children in pre-schools that I'm visiting – some of the shots are amazingly good.
