If you’ve spent much around here, you know we’re huge fans of all things Yosemite National Park. (I’ve even written an insider’s guide to exploring the place with kids.) We’ve read lots of books for kids about Yosemite over the years and were thrilled to be introduced to a brand new title earlier this fall: Ranger Baldy and the Disappearing Waterfall: A Yosemite Park Adventure.
The full-color, 34-page book is set in – you guessed it – Yosemite National Park. Our friendly narrator is bald eagle Ranger Baldy of the Animal Rescue Corps. When Yosemite National Park’s grandest waterfall mysteriously disappears, Ranger Baldy soars into action. The story features Yosemite’s native animals and landscapes and is beautifully illustrated.
In the short time we’ve had this book in the house, each of The Explorers has read it many times. The Big Explorer (9) loves that the animals are the main characters – and that Ranger Baldy calls us humans “two-leggers.” The Little Explorer (5) also likes that it’s centered on animals and enjoys the mystery that is the magic of Mother Nature.
Ranger Baldy and the Disappearing Waterfall is the first in a series of national park adventure books. We are very excited to see where Ranger Baldy’s adventures will take us next.
Ranger Baldy and the Disappearing Waterfall retails for $15.99.

Have to say my favorite is Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. Deer, bear, birds, hiking, and who wouldn't love a place called the Skyline Drive! Thanks for the chance to win! Kim beachluvr@comcast.net <br />

We used to live in CA, before having kids. I'd have to say either Yosemite or Grand Canyon… ahhh, it's a toss up! My husband LOVES Yosemite but I LOVE Grand Canyon. We want to do a road trip out West with our daughters one of these years. My husband would be so stoked to see this book. email: joellemcnulty at mac dot com
