Saturday Snapshot: Ladybug

by Debi Huang

Welcome to “Saturday Snapshot,” a weekly feature that highlights photos we take as part of our seasonal nature photo scavenger hunts.

Spring is just three weeks old, so if you haven’t starting playing along with the 2013 Spring nature photo scavenger hunt yet, there’s still plenty of time! Look for our complete collection of #springnaturehunt photos on Instagram and Pinterest.

The Find: Ladybug

The Story: Last week The Big Explorer came home from school with these guys (given to him as part of an entomology unit on life cycles). After housing them for a few days, we released them onto the roses in our front yard.

Kids just love 'em, don't they? Learning about their life cycle is eye opening, since they're far from "cute" growing up.

Wow! Look at them all. There's something about ladybugs, I just love them. What a wonderful learning experience.
