I think I’ve mentioned here before that The Little Explorer is a self-proclaimed animal rescuer. He’s also a kindergartener and quite serious about learning to read. Which means we are always on the lookout for children’s books about animals.
Just as our search was beginning, Sylvan Dell Publishing contacted me about reviewing some books, quite a few of which are about animals.
In case you aren’t familiar with Sylvan Dell (I wasn’t), the company is “on a serious mission to create picture books that excite children’s imaginations, are artistically spectacular and have educational value.” Sounds good, right?
Each of the company’s 90 titles pairs a story with a “For Creative Minds” section that includes non-fiction information on the story’s topic and fun learning activities. Plus, each book is reviewed by experts in the field (think scientists and educators from places like USFWS, NASA, nature centers and the like). Online you will also find supplemental resources to take the learning even further.
Fall Titles for Animal Lovers
We were excited to check out a few of Sylvan’s newest fall titles. We loved the colorful pages and getting to read and learn more about animals. I like that both of my kids can enjoy these books – the 5 year old is challenged to learn to read them and the 9 year old to investigate and explore more through the “For Creative Minds” challenges.
These books are priced right at $9.95 (paperback). But guess what? If you like what you see here, you can get a 20% discount on your order! Read on to find out more about that.
